Dod sends troops to border

The Department of Defense is currently sending 1,500 active duty troops to the US border; 1,000 of the Army and 500 Marines.

When asked if they are prepared to send more, the DoD stated that 2,000 Marines can be sent along with 10,000 additional Army troops. Already on the border are 2,500 National Guardsmen and Reservists.

The troops will apparently assist Border Patrol in setting up barriers, along with piloting helicopters. From reports I have read, troops will be deployed to Texas and California.

Across the United States, there are 20,000 Border Patrol agents. But they have to cover both the Northern and Southern borders.

Reports suggest that military bases may be used to house those being deported from the United States, with the potential capacity of housing 10,000.

Across America, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) is being reported and seen detaining and deporting people. President Donald Trump stated that this will be the largest deportation in history, with aims to remove 15-20 million migrants. As of 23 January 2025, 538 arrests were made, with 373 detainers lodged (US ICE Website).
